DEFENDING CHAMPIONS.  First Tee of Dallas, with a score of four under par 136.

FORMAT.  Each Texas First Tee chapter may enter four players.  From those four players, the chapter will identify two two-person teams who will play in a two-person scramble.  The combined gross score of a Chapter's two two-person teams will be the team's tournament score.  If Austin's Joe and Jane score 70 and Austin's Bill and Bob score a 72, Austin's score is a 142.  Each two-person team will play with a two-person team from another chapter.

ENTRY FEE:  $400.00 per team due with entry by March 1, 2023.  Make checks payable to Hickory Golf Association of Texas or pay online via PayPal or Debit/Credit Card.  Fee includes golf, range balls, box lunch, awards dinner, awards and gratuities. 

 

AWARDS:  Players on the first three teams receive gold, silver and bronze medals, a hickory-shaft golf club, and a golf book. All players receive a golf book. The championship team will retain custody of the Texas Cup until the next year’s tournament.  The medals are made by the world-renowned firm of Alexander Kirkwood & Son of Edinburgh, Scotland. These are new medals for our 2023 tournament, and the first three teams from 2021 and 2022 will receive medals retroactively.

AWARDS PRESENTATION:  Following play, we will gather in the Onion Creek clubhouse for dinner, awards presentation and a guest speaker.  Other persons associated with a Chapter's team are invited to attend the awards dinner at $35.00 per person.  Dinner reservations and payment for these additional persons must accompany the team's entry into the tournament, due on March 1, 2023.  Make checks payable to Hickory Golf Association of Texas or payment may be made online. 

 

EQUIPMENT:  All players will use hickory-shaft golf clubs (originals or reproductions). Mr. William Reed of Des Moines, Iowa will generously provide loaner sets.  A team’s coach has responsibility for working with Mr. Reed to ensure appropriate distribution and collection of clubs.  Soft golf balls are highly recommended when playing with hickory shaft golf clubs.

ATTIRE:  Traditional vintage attire (knickers, flat golf caps) is recommended but not required.  A couple of recommendations for period attire:  Knicker Dog or Kings Cross Knickers.

HOST HOTEL:  We have a block of rooms at the Comfort Suites Hotel in Buda, Texas.  It is located on the northeast quadrant of Interstate 35 and Main Street in Buda, Texas (near the McDonald's restaurant) and the Comfort Suites hotel will be in plain sight.  EXIT 221 ON INTERSTATE 35.  The hotel is a five-minute drive from Onion Creek Club.

The rate is $114.00 per room.  For reservation call (512) 295 - 8600 before March 12, 2023 to get this rate.  DO NOT CALL the hotel's 800 number.  March 12, 2023 is also the cutoff date to cancel a reservation without penalty.

You are urged to make your hotel reservations as early as possible.  The Austin hotel picture is getting weird.  Rooms may be limited.
